American Air Filters is a large $multi-million air filtration manufacturer. They needed a way to drive down the prices paid to suppliers on large-scale projects. The project was to develop an application that would allow them to set up a reverse auction system (think Ebay, but with decreasing bids rather than increasing ones) where competing suppliers would bid in decreasing increments to be the selected supplier of materials/parts in upcoming projects.
The solution was to develop a web-based application that can operate across multiple time-zones using a combination of server-side and client-side technologies. The developed system allows AAF to setup highly configurable and localizable (translated) auctions that operate in real time.
In short each auction can save AAF up to £10,000's on their project build costs.
